  • Tooth Erosion

Have you ever noticed that your teeth look thinner than they used to? Maybe even a bit darker? Some wear is inevitable as we age, but excessive wearing away of the tooth surface can have many causes. According to one recent study, general dental erosion was found in 28% of 15 year olds and 34% of 17 year olds. Basically that means that erosion prevalence is rising as we chronologically age. Additionally, severe dental erosion was found in nearly 20% of adolescents (age 15 to 17). That’s almost 1 out of every 5 teenagers. Statistics like this are alarming, since erosion of teeth will only lead to bigger dental problems in the future – usually tooth sensitivity, nerve exposure and even breakage of the teeth involved. This bio-corrosion of teeth is a multifactorial issue that needs to be addressed at an early age, before damage is done, as the damage is usually irreversible. Tooth erosion can look different depending on the cause. Here are a few different scenarios. Fronts of teeth are eroded Teeth edges are eroded These are the many causes of tooth erosion: • Clenching or grinding of teeth • Acidic foods and drinks (carbonated beverages, some bottled flavored waters, ACV or lemon water) • Medications • GERD –gastro-esophageal reflux disease • Eating disorders (vomiting after eating- anorexia or bulimia) • Overbrushing with electric toothbrushes or hard bristle toothbrushes • Abrasive toothpastes • Acidic saliva pH (usually due to diet or toxicity in system) • Mineral deficiencies • Vitamin deficiencies • Swimming in chlorinated pools (See our blog Swimming Can Be Harmful to Your Teeth All of the above are correctable, with simple lifestyle modifications. Be sure to ask at your next dental appointment on how we can best address these necessary changes in habit, diet or nutrient supplementation. By being proactive now, you will prevent bigger dental problems in the future. If you like this post, ypu may also like: Ozone Dental Therapy for Dental Cavities

  • Aluminum Toxicity

Aluminum toxicity is rampant. Considering that many neurological diseases are on the rise, this is not a surprising statement. Aluminum is not a heavy metal like mercury or lead, but its effects can be just as devastating. Aluminum can accumulate in the brain, causing seizures and reduced mental functions (Alzheimer’s for example). It is easily absorbed through the digestive tract, lungs and skin, and from there, is dispersed to all major organs and body parts. These are the major sources of Aluminum Toxicity and good ways to avoid them: 1. Aluminum pots and pans. Use stainless steel, ceramic or titanium. Read Cooking with Fluoride? 2. Baking powder. Look for aluminum–free brands in the health food store. Or use baking soda. 3. Bleached white flour. Use whole grain flour. Avoid conventional cake mixes. 4. Conventional table salt. Use Himalayan or Celtic sea salt. Read The Miracle of Minerals 5. Antacids. Use digestive enzymes and aloe. 6. Antiperspirants and most deodorants. Make your own. See recipe below. 7. Buffered aspirin. There are other less toxic options for pain relief. 8. Aluminum cans for many drinks and foods.. Buy bottled. 9. Aluminum containers from Take-out restaurants. Transfer food immediately to non-toxic containers upon arriving home. 10. Aluminum foil. Use wax or parchment paper to wrap/heat foods. 11. Processed cheese, especially those used on cheeseburgers at fast food restaurants. Stay out of fast food restaurants for other reasons besides the cheese. 12. Shampoos, especially those for anti-dandruff. Use baking soda-water rinse followed by apple cider vinegar-water rinse. 13. Some toothpastes. Look for holistic options in the health food store. Read the ingredient list before buying. Read Toothpaste: Poison or Panacea As an avid seeker of non-toxic substitutes for everyday products, here is one solution that I have used for years to replace toxic antiperspirants. Nontoxic Homemade Deodorant • 6 Tablespoons coconut oil • 1/4 cup (4 Tablespoons) baking soda • 1/4 cup (4 Tablespoons) arrowroot • Essential oil (optional) 1. Mix baking soda and arrowroot together in a medium sized bowl. 2. Mash in coconut oil with a fork until well mixed. 3. Add essential oil if desired. Use something mellow like a flower essence, rose or lavender. 4. Store in small glass jar for easy use. Considering that this recipe takes less than 5 minutes to complete, there is no reason to be using the highly overpriced, chemical laden version that the store sells. The most difficult part of the recipe is finding a glass jar to store it in! As I have written in my book, My Secrets to Regaining Health, solutions are everywhere. They just don’t always come easily presented by the usual standard media. We may need to do a little personal research to find them. And with all the information on the internet, there are no excuses. If you like this post you may also like: Zeolite –A Daily Detox Green Drinks

  • The Miracle of Minerals

After looking in so many mouths for so many decades, there is one thing that I have found in common with the majority of my patients. Mineral deficiency. This includes even the very health conscious patients. I can usually assess this deficiency by tongue reading, and after asking a few basic questions, my suspicions are confirmed. Mineral deficiency is rampant in our culture and it is many times diagnosed as something else. A perfect example of this is irregular heartbeat. Yes, it is very possible that there may be an underlying cardiac pathology for this, but time and again, I have seen many patients correct this “disease” by simply increasing their mineral intake. Another common symptom of mineral deficiency is hand tremor. Again, sometimes easily corrected by increasing mineral intake. In my experience, I have found 5 main reasons that most people are deficient Poor diet with highly processed foods (and low mineral content) Healthy diet but fruits/vegetables grown on mineral depleted soil High stress Poor absorption due to intestinal issues Undiagnosed underlying thyroid or adrenal issue And the most common indicators for mineral deficiency, in my experience, are: Anxiety/panic attacks Inability to fall asleep or stay asleep Tremors Heartbeat fluttering Muscle cramps/spasms/twitches Cognitive impairment Dizziness Fatigue Of course the list can be longer, but these are the symptoms that seem to be universal with most patients. I am sure many of you reading this are wondering how a dentist can possibly be aware of this issue while most medical doctors are oblivious. Number 1 is I have experienced this myself (overcoming chronic Lyme Disease and all its implications) and number 2, I see a lot of very chronically ill patients looking for solutions to their “incurable” and sometimes “imaginary” disease that conventional medicine has given up on. So here is a quick solution worth trying to see if mineral supplementation will work for you. Mix one half teaspoon of quality salt –Himalayan or gray Celtic sea salt in water and drink this with an additional 2 glasses of water. You should drink enough water until you feel the urge to urinate. See how you feel in 15 minutes. If something shifts, then you know mineral absorption is an issue and you need to keep this remedy up for a good while into the future. As a side note, for those worried about raising their blood pressure from this salt solution, this is a non-issue. Himalayan and Celtic sea salt are both low in sodium and contain a rich spectrum of 84 minerals with trace elements. Conventional table salt has only two minerals. Himalayan and Celtic sea salt are the pillars of good health. Use them daily. If you like this post, you may also like: Himalayan Salt GMO Foods- A Perspective

  • Magnesium for Better Health

Mineral deficiency is rampant. Due to modern farming methods that rely heavily on using chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides that are absorbed into the soil, our topsoil has been heavily depleted of its mineral content. As a result, so are our fruits and vegetables. Magnesium is the master mineral, and the repercussions of deficiency are easily observed. Here are some signs of a magnesium deficiency: • Poor sleep • Heart palpitations or flutterings • Muscle weakness • Muscle cramps • Tremors • Nausea • Unexplained anxiety • High blood pressure • Low blood pressure accompanied with a feeling of fainting • Type II diabetes • Respiratory issues, specifically asthma • Dizziness • Fatigue • Difficulty swallowing • Poor memory • Confusion • Immune system problems Dentally, when mineral deficient, you may experience increased bruxism (grinding of teeth) or even rampant decay (demineralized enamel) or periodontal infections (weakened immune system). Minerals are vital to a strong immune system as well as building the integrity of teeth and bones. The most immediate response (usually within one day) that I notice in patients who begin increasing magnesium, is better sleep and less anxiety. Many feel as though they have taken a sedative, as their entire body and mind are finally feeling relaxed. There are many different formulas for magnesium supplements, so it is always best to talk with your health professional to see which would work best for you. Transdermal magnesium chloride (magnesium oil) applied topically or Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) baths are probably one of the safest ways to increase magnesium uptake with virtually no side effects. So for relaxation, and overall better health, mineral supplementation with an emphasis on magnesium is key. If you like this post, you may also like our many other Posts on Mineral Supplementation

  • Cooking with Fluoride?

I guess the title of this post got your attention. Who in their right mind would cook with fluoride? Actually many of you are, and are not even aware of it. As most of you already know, fluoride is a neurotoxin (destroys nerve cells) and it is found almost everywhere. Even in places that you would never expect. Some places are obvious; like toothpaste, municipal water supplies (and all the foods made from them), some medications, and of course, many restoratives (fillings and cements) used in the dental office. When one speaks about having too much of a good thing to the point of detriment, fluoride may be at the top of the list. Non-stick Cookware For those unaware, fluoride is also the main chemical in making those non-stick pans that many of us may have in the house. They are made using a carcinogenic chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which emits toxic fumes (that you inhale) every time you cook with them. At high temperatures, the coating of non-stick cookware will also break down into a chemical warfare agent known as PFIB, and a chemical analog of the WWII nerve gas phosgene. PFOA has been implicated in increased instances of cancer in the pancreas, liver, testicles, and mammary glands, as well as miscarriages, thyroid problems and weakened immune systems. The beauty of theses pans is you can do fat-free cooking. The Teflon coating magically does the job. Easy to cook with and easy to clean up. No grease necessary and perfect for low fat diets. But most of us now know that eating healthy fat is really critical for excellent health so the days of low fat diets should be over. Non-stick pans should be a thing of the past. If you use your non-stick pots and pans on a daily basis, they are likely to scratch and break at some point, increasing the release of the poison into your food as well as the air in your home. It only takes 5 minutes for non-stick cookware to reach over 700 degrees (toxic gases release at 500 degrees) and emit at least six toxic gases, which include two carcinogens and two global pollutants. This non-stick coating has been added to other household and personal care products besides non-stick cookware. These include: Clothing (Gore-Tex jackets and other apparel) Nail polish removers Eyeglasses Products designed to repel soil, grease and water, such as carpet and furniture treatments Pizza boxes, microwave popcorn, and other non-stick food wraps Protective sprays for leather, shoes, and clothing Paint Cleaning products And as you already know, it is very difficult to detox from fluoride, so the best thing is to avoid it. Personally in my home, we use glass (pyrex), ceramic (corningware), and stainless steel cookware. I hear that titanium is another good choice, although considerably more expensive. Springtime is the perfect time to clean out your home. Start with removing toxic cookware. • Meridian Dentistry

Biological Dentistry is a holistic approach which acknowledges that dental health affects not only the teeth, gums and jaw, but the entire body and vigor of the individual. Every organ and every part of your body is directly linked to a specific tooth or area of the mouth via these meridians or energy highways. This connection is so strong that a biological dentist can often accurately "guess" your dental history simply by reviewing your physical symptoms. On one level, this is just common sense; after all, your mouth is physically connected to the rest of you. But, be that as it may, many dentists continue to treat the mouth in isolation, as if what happens there has no impact on the rest of the body. Luckily, though, many more dentists are finally beginning to appreciate the relationship between oral health and systemic health. The most obvious example is the connection between heart disease and gum disease. If you have chronic bleeding gums, you might run to your nearest dentist for a periodontal checkup, as well as to your physician to have a C - reactive protein (CRP) test done to check your cardiovascular system. But there is a deeper relationship, as well, and it stems from the influence of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its concept of the body’s meridians. Generally speaking, these are the channels along which qi (chi) flows through the body. As shown in charts such as the one below, each meridian runs through any number of body structures and organs. If there are blockages or disruptions in any given meridian, dysfunction can occur in any organ or structure located on that meridian. For instance, it is not uncommon to find that people with problems in their first premolar may have gastrointestinal problems, since that tooth lies on the same meridian as the large intestine and stomach. And I actually had a patient recently whose chronic acid reflux disease actually abated within 24 hours of treating her first premolar. Knowing that the impact of dental treatment extends far beyond the teeth, it is important to keep your teeth and gums as healthy and as natural as possible. Your entire well-being depends on it. • NAC: A Detoxification Revelation

Replacing your mercury fillings with a dental material that is more biocompatible and less toxic, is usually the goal of the vast majority of patients that come to see me. And I applaud each of you who actually take a proactive step to do so. The question that usually comes up afterwards is: How do I remove the residual buildup of mercury from my body tissues? There are many simple ways to detox, and you can actually read about many of them in my book My Secrets to Regaining Health or read through my blogs to get other helpful ideas. However there is another simple method worth exploring. The use of NAC. NAC (N-Acetyl –Cysteine) is a natural sulfur-containing amino acid derivative found naturally in foods. It is a powerful antioxidant. It helps the body eliminate free radicals and neutralize toxins, especially heavy metals such as mercury, cadmium and lead. This sulfur containing amino acid is closely related to L-Cysteine, being its acetyl derivative. L-Cysteine is important for homeostasis, being a glutathione precursor, and a natural source of sulfur for metabolism. Unfortunately, L-Cysteine is unstable, and can become degraded (inactivated) while being absorbed. N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC), on the other hand, is more stable than L-Cysteine and conveniently becomes converted into L-Cysteine after being absorbed. Thus NAC taken orally will raise blood and tissue L-Cysteine levels. As a dietary supplement, NAC is therefore a highly attractive alternative to L-Cysteine. By supplementing with N-Acetyl Cysteine, you will increase cellular Glutathione levels, because cysteine is the limiting component in the production of Glutathione. As many of you may already know, taking Glutathione supplements directly won't do any good since it is a protein and will be destroyed in the stomach by the hydrochloric acid and ultimately be broken down into its amino acid components (glycine, glutamine, and cysteine). Glutathione is known as the "Master Antioxidant." An antioxidant is a natural substance that removes harmful free radicals from our bodies. There are many antioxidants (such as Vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, etc.) but glutathione tops them all. Fortunately, we have an amazing built in system of antioxidant power that operates optimally when properly maintained. Daily supplementation with NAC will help regulate this. An important detail to keep in mind is that glutathione is a chelator of heavy metals. The more heavy metals in your system, the more glutathione is needed to transport it out. If you have a lot of heavy metals in your body, then your glutathione levels will most likely be insufficient. Supplementation with NAC is critical to keeping this detoxification system healthy. From my personal research, it seems that concomitant high doses of Vitamin C are imperative, as it is an important cofactor in assisting in the glutathione detoxification system. So if you haven’t already done so, I would seriously consider adding NAC (and extra Vitamin C) to your daily nutritional intake. I already have. • Silver Diamine Fluoride in Caries Management

There are several ways to reverse or arrest decay (see our many posts on this topic), and the application of silver diamine fluoride has come up recently as a possible solution. In our office, the inquiries on silver diamine fluoride are mostly from parents of young children, hoping to avoid having fillings placed in their toddler’s teeth. Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a colorless strongly alkaline liquid (pH 10) that is 24.4% to 28.8% (weight/volume) silver and 5.0% to 5.9% fluoride. Just as 5% sodium fluoride varnish has FDA clearance as a Class II medical device for the treatment of tooth hypersensitivity, FDA classified SDF as a fluoride and cleared its use as a Class II medical device for the same indication. SDF has been popular for many years in Europe and recently became available here in the United States. Teeth Stained by Silver Diamine Fluoride A recent article in the New York Times highlighted the use of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) as an alternative approach to treatment of cavities in children. The article highlighted that SDF was faster and cheaper than drilling and filling; and it mentioned the downside that when applied, SDF blackens the tooth. When applied to a carious lesion, SDF has been shown to lower caries risk of the tooth surface. This is most likely due to its fluoride content topically applied to the tooth. It will not stop decay from progressing deep within the tooth. Here is a short list of the Pros and Cons: Pros • SDF has very low toxicity • it is quick, painless, non-invasive • it is less expensive than a filling, no drilling necessary • it can stop tooth decay on the exterior surface of the cavity and help prevent recurrent decay making it effective in management of root caries in the elderly Cons: • permanently stains cavities black. • does not restore tooth form or function, so large holes in teeth will remain and continue to trap food • decay and bacteria will continue to exist buried within the tooth structure at the deep internal part of the cavity lesion. This means that the cavity is still active and growing at the part nearest the nerve • requires repeat application for maximum efficacy • cannot be used in the presence of infection or decay into the nerve • metallic taste, funky smell • potential to irritate gingival and mucosal surfaces SDF is not a complete solution to caries risk. Single application has been reported to be insufficient for sustained benefit. SDF might be more accurately described as effective for caries control and management. It will not reverse decay. It likely has additional applicability as an interim approach for managing problematic caries in individuals currently unable to tolerate more involved dental treatment. A search of ClinicalTrials.gov for silver diamine fluoride returned 14 studies; 7 of which have been completed, 5 that are recruiting, and 2 that have not yet begun recruiting. This suggests that more scientific insight and news will likely be forthcoming about this product. Silver Diamine Fluoride is not the panacea that many have been led to believe. Proper diet, good oral hygiene are still paramount to maintain a healthy dentition. Interested in learning more? Consider an appointment with Dr. Brand. Contact us at 212 947-0073

  • Green Drinks

Many patients have often asked me to name the one thing that I would recommend most to restore and maintain health. Now, that is a tough question, since my list of healthy healing modalities gets longer by the week. But if I had to narrow it down to one thing that can be done on a regular basis to promote good health, it would be Green Juices. I can’t survive very long without my green juices. If I miss more than 2 days, I actually crave the stuff. So what is this magical mystical elixir that I ingest on a regular basis? Photo credit Creative Commons: Robert Gourley Well to begin with, green juices or green drinks are not green tea. Sure, green tea is loaded with immune boosting anti oxidants of polyphenols and catechins to improve your health, but my green drinks are the ones made from green superfoods- foods like barley grass, spirulina and other chlorophyll rich foods. These super foods are packed with the vitamins and minerals that you need but are no longer getting from your fresh fruits and vegetables. Yes, I know that it is hard to believe that our produce is not that healthy, especially since we have choices of organic and locally grown produce. But these days, the produce you buy at your local grocery store or green market just doesn’t have the nutritional power that fruits and vegetables had only a few decades ago. Over farming, soil depletion, commercial fertilizer, hybrid crops and genetic modifications are slashing the nutrients found in your fruits and vegetables. Farmers create “hybrid” forms of your produce – not for their ability to store nutrients – but for their color, weight and shelf life. Why? So they’ll look nice and pretty when they sit under the fluorescent lights of your supermarket. You may think they look nutritious, but “under the hood,” they contain little more than indigestible cellulose, sugar and water. You may actually need to ingest about 10 servings of vegetables today to equal the mineral content of just one serving from 50 years ago! That’s a lot of bulk. Green drinks are a simple answer. The most obvious thing about green drinks is that they are so green. This is due to their high chlorophyll content. Chlorophyll from green foods supports intestinal and liver health, improves oxygen delivery by the blood, supports elimination of certain toxins and heavy metals. It may inhibit absorption of environmental pollutants like dioxin and also help your body excrete toxins quicker. The high antioxidant level can slow aging by combating free radical damage. It has even been shown to repair DNA! Chlorophyll also enhances oxygen transport in your body and is a top nutrient for balancing your body's pH by helping to reduce acidity. This is a big deal. We always read your saliva pH when you come to your dental visits. It gives us clues to your body chemistry and can help us figure out where that periodontal disease may be coming from or why you keep coming back with new cavities. Not to mention that it may explain why your body always feels exhausted. Low-grade acidosis may not only contribute to fatigue but other health concerns as well, including kidney stones and lower growth hormone levels, which lead to more body fat and loss of lean muscle mass. Now that you know that green juices will get you trimmer as well as healthier, I am sure that you are more interested. So where do I get theses green juices. 1. the health food store can make you fresh juices(expensive but delicious) 2. you can make your own if you have a juicer(messy but fresh and delicious) 3. buy dehydrated green juice powder (just add liquid and … voila!) Now for me, personally, I gave away my juicer years ago. I just couldn’t stand the mess. Plus I had all this fiber left over after juicing. It gets a little bit overwhelming trying to figure out what to do with this healthy fiber. And there’s a lot of guilt associated with just throwing it away. I presently use the green powder. There are many brands to choose from, so read the labels and see what resonates with you. If you want my personal preference, you can ask me at your next appointment. So the next time you sit down to a nice glass of something refreshing, empower yourself and make it a health promoting green juice. It is almost a “perfect food” and it gives YOU unmatched health protection. Your body will be thanking you for years to come. Cheers! • Invisible Toxins

Throughout the centuries, there have been many toxic substances that were believed to be harmless but then later found out to be just the opposite. A classic example is cigarettes. Hard to believe that just 60 years ago, doctors were suggesting smoking cigarettes as a safe technique for relaxation and promoting health. Fast forward to today. A highly noxious and precarious toxin is EMF. ElectroMagnetic Fields (EMF) are present everywhere in our environment but are invisible to the human eye. Electric fields are produced naturally by the local build-up of electric charges in the atmosphere associated with thunderstorms. The earth's magnetic field causes a compass needle to orient in a North-South direction and is used by birds and fish for navigation. Besides these natural sources, the electromagnetic spectrum also includes fields generated by human-made sources: x-rays, microwaves, cell phones, CAT scans. The electricity that comes out of every power socket has associated low frequency electromagnetic fields. And various kinds of higher frequency radiowaves are used to transmit information – whether via TV antennas, radio stations, mobile phone base stations, computers, power lines, appliances and airport radar. The question to ask is “Can these electromagnetic forces (EMF) cause health problems?” The answer is “Yes”. EMFs has been associated with brain tumors, leukemia, birth defects, miscarriages, chronic fatigue, headaches, cataracts, heart problems, stress, forgetfulness, cancer and other health problems. So what simple things can we do about this to protect ourselves? 1. Before going for any kind of diagnostic x-ray, you should take a significant dose of antioxidants. 2. If available, try a homeopathic remedy for x-rays. 3. Dental wise, you should see a dentist that utilizes digital radiography. There is usually up to a 95% reduction of radiation exposure. 4. Try not to take routine x-rays so frequently. It is best to sit down and talk to your health care provider to see if there is an alternative to the x-ray, such as ultrasound or thermography. 5. Limit usage of cell phones, especially in children. (young developing brains are particularly prone to mutations). 6. Put EMF protectors on your cell phone. 7. Limit use of microwaves. They are known to alter the natural energy of food. 8. Stand at least 6 feet away from the microwave while it is on. 9. Try to remove all electronics out of the bedroom, or keep it at least 6 feet away from your head area. 10. Watch the video below and educate yourself. At our office, we not only have low radiation digital xrays to reduce radiation exposure, we offer an antioxidant and homeopathic remedy, in addition to putting on the lead vest. We also have EMF protectors on all computers and x ray machines, further reducing any EMF exposure. Radiation and EMF exposure is cumulative. Being well today may not hold up tomorrow. Many of us are perfectly healthy until we are not. We are exposed to so many toxins on a daily basis. Take control and be proactive. Remove or reduce the ones that you know about. Your health depends on it. If you like this post, you may also like: Radiation everywhere. Vacations included.

  • Himalayan Salt

Himalayan Salt has recently been re-discovered as one of nature’s purest and most complete mineral salt sources on Earth. There are 84 minerals found in the salt, and for that reason it has tremendous therapeutic effects. To begin with, it is great in everyday cooking. Take your purified, iodized and chemicalized white table salt and throw it in the garbage. Not only is it demineralized, many brands actually add dextrose (sugar) to make it taste better. So now you can develop a blood sugar problem from the additive, along with the high blood pressure from the excessive sodium content. I not only use Himalayan salt for preparing my family meals, but it goes into the homemade doggy gruel that I make regularly for my puppy, and she is an extremely healthy robust canine. (If anyone wants this health promoting recipe- just ask.) Aside from putting it in your food, you can also use Himalayan salt to maintain good oral hygiene. Add a teaspoon of the salt to water, and let the crystals dissolve. Then use it for a good gargle to stop halitosis. If you have sore and bleeding gums or any oral infection, rinse three to four times a day with a Himalayan salt and water solution. An infected tooth can be painful and make your entire body hurt. Using Himalayan salt with water and swishing it around the sore tooth can help draw out the pathogens and kill bacteria and germs. But of course, this is a transitory treatment. You should still make an appointment to see your regular dentist for a definitive diagnosis and treatment. As a salt-water solution, it can also be used as a Sole (pronounced solay) solution to increase your absorption of essential minerals. Easy enough to make: Recipe for Sole Solution Place several crystal salt stones in a small glass jar with a wooden or plastic lid (do not use a metal lid). Add quality drinking water to the top of jar. Let this mixture sit for at least 24 hours or until the crystals have dissolved. There should be some chunks of salt left at the bottom of the jar. Leave them there, as this indicates that you have a truly saturated salt solution in the water part (Sound familiar from high school chemistry?) 4. Ingest 1 to 2 tablespoons of this solution every morning on an empty stomach. 5. Drink 1 glass of plain quality water immediately afterwards. The direct effects can be felt within days, maybe even sooner. If you are jittery or nervous, you may find yourself feeling calmer. Chronic muscle twitches may begin to disappear. Blood pressure issues and conditions related to mineral imbalance (pH, digestion, energy levels, etc.) within the body will slowly begin to find its homeostasis. Although ingesting the salt is extremely health promoting, there is still much to be said about soaking your body in Himalayan salt. My favorite use of Himalayan salt crystals is in the bathtub. It is recommended to add up to 1 cup of salt to the bath water, soak from 15 to 45 minutes. It is not only relaxing, but also a great detoxifier for heavy metals and other toxins stored in the cells. To really de-stress, just add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. I personally am a big fan of Rose and/or Texas Cedarwood essential oils. You can buy these in any health food store. Guaranteed that you will feel like a different person when you step out of that tub! And last but not least, is the use of these crystals as EMF protectors. As you have read in my Invisible Toxins blog, EMFs are everywhere. We need to be consciously aware and find ways to negate our exposure. Himalayan Salt lamps will do just that. They continuously release negative ions neutralizing toxins in the air. Great to place them by computer work stations or in the bedroom to receive maximum exposure. The possibilities of Himalayan salt are vast. These mineral salt crystals were created 250 million years ago from ancient oceans that became trapped after tectonic plate movement and subsequent evaporation. As a result, these residual minerals exist in ionic form and that means they can be easily absorbed and utilized by our bodies. It is only found in the pristine remote reaches of the Himalayan Mountains, so it is a very pure product. The Earth has so many natural resources to support us on our journey of health. It is up to us to make educated decisions. Now that you have been informed, which salt will you choose? Does Dr. Brand’s philosophy resonate? • Dr. Brand's Book

For those who aren’t aware, I have been working on my book for the last 2 years. It was just published 2 weeks ago. “Congratulations” you say. Well, “Thank you very much.” But here is the surprise; it is NOT about toxic dentistry and how to avoid it. At least not totally. Enlightened Indigo Child A Personal Guide to Flourishing with a Sixth Sense You see, although I have been a practicing dentist for over 30 years, the most important health lessons that I have learned actually have very little to do with teeth. Yes, I know that the teeth are on meridians( http/thebrandwellnesscenter.webs.com/apps/blog/show/5804900-meridian-dentistry) and that will affect whole body health; and I know that mercury fillings are poisonous to your health (http/thebrandwellnesscenter.webs.com/apps/blog/show/5516016-are-my-mercury-fillings-bad-for-me-). But more importantly, my secret in regaining my health has been “Don’t give up.” And keep looking for solutions. As Albert Einstein said: The problems we face today cannot be solved at the same level of thinking that created them. Even when the so called medical experts say that there is no cure for what you have, trust me, there probably is. It is just that they haven’t figured it out yet. So it is up to you to take back your power and heal yourself. Miracle cures happen every day and yours just might be the next one to occur. You see, toxins are everywhere; the air we breathe, the food we eat, the people we meet, the EMFs from cell phones, microwave, etc. (http/thebrandwellnesscenter.webs.com/apps/blog/show/5696653-invisible-toxins); even the pharmaceuticals that are treating our symptoms. When we clean up our environment, and detox our bodies, there will be a shift in our health; usually for the better. So this book that I have completed is for anyone who wants to have a healthier life. I have co-authored it with my daughter, who is a highly sensitive person. Together we have mastered many unfamiliar holistic secrets to regaining health and staying well.
